Meet Emily


Emily partners with students, adults, and educators to discover paths to good and fitting vocation. Believing that finding what you should do begins with understanding who you are, Emily’s approach considers the whole person, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

In order to build toward the future, we need a solid foundation based on an objective and honest view of ourselves and how we view labor. Informed self reflection offers us the chance to see how our interests, values, and abilities fit within the world where we live and work.

Emily has worked as a teacher and administrator in both public and private school settings for the past 16 years, and knows that a one-size-fits-all approach to education is convenient, but the problem is that humans aren’t one-size. We learn and process differently; we communicate differently, but unfortunately, the way we’re taught isn’t really all that different. Many people can adapt to learning methods that aren’t best suited to their abilities, but for others, we begin to base who we are on a set of institutionalized measures alone, and that can be very dehumanizing.

Preparing students for the future isn’t only an intellectual pursuit either; students need to grow in their social competence and their emotional sturdiness as well (we’re not just brains on sticks after all). Too often, schools prioritize what is efficient and manageable, and in doing so, neglect to teach the whole student. Exploring who we are and how we relate to others is really important in growing socially and emotionally healthy.

And the journey doesn’t end when we start our first job! Having personally explored many and varied career paths herself (and wishing she had better understood her natural abilities earlier), Emily is so excited to help others use their time and resources wisely to see their gifts and flourish as human beings.
